AHSRA Board Chair ReportĀ

Thank you to everyone who joined our Board Meeting by Zoom on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Following is a summary of the meeting minutes:Ā

  • Terrie provided a raffle update – Raffle books have been sent out to district coordinators and will be available to members soon. We will have a booth at CFR this year and Terrie is asking for a parent to coordinate volunteers to work shifts. We will look for more opportunities to sell raffle tickets at outside events. Members are encouraged to take extra books – they can receive extra scholarship money.Ā
  • Scott provided a sponsorship update on behalf of the committee. They have been working on several ideas for securing corporate sponsorship for the association.Ā
  • The board also discussed an offer from a vehicle dealership in northern Alberta for a referral program. The board is supportive of this – details will be shared with members who wish to participate.Ā

Ā

If you have any questions on these matters or any other, feel free to reach out to Denton or myself.

Thank you to Carla Pocock, our PR Coordinator, for crafting engaging social media content to highlight our members and partners!

Day 4 at the Junior High National Finals Rodeo is in the books for Team Alberta! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ¤ After a fun evening at Cowboy Ball, where our contestants cleaned up pretty well and enjoyed a night together away from the arena, it was back to business today. The day brought another round of competition, with plenty of grit, determination, and perseverance on display. Some events went exactly as planned, while others reminded us just how humbling rodeo can be. Through it all, Team Alberta continued to cheer each other on and represent our province with class. When the competition wrapped up, the fun wasn’t over. Contestants hit the volleyball court for some friendly competition, proving Team Alberta knows how to have fun both in and out of the arena. The memories being made at the Lazy E go far beyond the scoreboard, and we’re so proud of the way these young athletes continue to represent Alberta every step of the way.Want to follow the action live? Catch every performance on the Cowboy Channel Plus app.Keep making us proud, Team Alberta! ā¤ļøšŸ¤ā¤ļø#TeamAlberta #JHNFR #AHSRA
It’s Teagan’s turn! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ¤ Rayelle caught up with Teagan at the Lazy E to hear how her National Finals week has been going.Teagan is all smiles and having an absolute blast in Oklahoma. She’s put together some runs she’s really proud of, and one thing that stood out was her perspective. Even after a broken barrier in the ribbon roping, she was still proud of the run they made—a great reminder that success isn’t always measured by the scoreboard. She also confirmed what we’ve been hearing from just about everyone… it’s a little warm down there! ā˜€ļøšŸ˜…Take a listen and hear it straight from Teagan. We love the enthusiasm, the resilience, and the way she’s representing Team Alberta.Keep it rolling, Teagan! ā¤ļøšŸ¤ā¤ļø#TeamAlberta #JHNFR #AHSRA
Next up is Lilly Gross! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ¤ Rayelle caught up with our D1 goat tier to see how her National Finals week has been going.Lilly is feeling pretty good about her goat tying run today and is soaking up every minute of the Junior High National Finals experience. One of her favourite parts? Meeting so many amazing people from across North America.Hear it straight from Lilly as she shares how her week has been going at the Lazy E!Keep it up, Lilly! Team Alberta is cheering you on! ā¤ļøšŸ¤ā¤ļø#TeamAlberta #JHNFR #AHSRA
We were hoping someone from Team Alberta would catch up with the one and only Gus Dyer, NHSRA Junior High National President… and Rayelle delivered! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ¤ You could say Gus is Junior High rodeo royalty, and he certainly didn’t disappoint.Rayelle asked the important questions, like whether he’d heard that Canadians ride moose and polar bears. While he wasn’t too worried about the moose, he admitted he’d rather steer clear of the polar bears! šŸ˜‚When Rayelle asked how his Finals were going, Gus gave one of the most honest interviews you’ll ever hear. By his own account, he top-knotted his calf, went to the horn a little too early in the team roping, and even technically ā€œfellā€ in the arena. Safe to say it hasn’t been the Finals he was hoping for—but if anyone can laugh at themselves and keep smiling, it’s Gus.There was just one small misunderstanding… Gus may have been expecting this to be a paid interview. Sorry, Gus… Team Alberta’s interview budget was spent on maple syrup and Timbits. šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸšŸ˜‰A huge thank you to Rayelle for tracking Gus down. This is one interview Team Alberta won’t soon forget!ā¤ļøšŸ¤ā¤ļø #TeamAlberta #JHNFR #AHSRA
