Nationals qualifiers

Qualifying for Nationals is a huge accomplishmentβ€”and something to be proud of. It also comes with a new level of commitment for both contestants and families.

Here’s what you need to know before making the decision to go:

It’s More Than Just a Rodeo

Nationals is a 7–10 day commitment that includes travel, competition, and time away from home and work. It requires planning ahead and being prepared for a full experienceβ€”not just a weekend event.

2026 National Junior High Finals Rodeo
June 21-27, 2026
Lazy E Arena, Guthrie, OK

Understanding the Costs

Expenses vary, but families should be prepared for:

  • Travel (fuel or flights)
  • Hotels or camping
  • Horse care (feed, stalls, vet)
  • Meals and daily expenses

Most families spend $3,000–$10,000+, depending on location and setup.

See the 2026 Pricing Sheet for a summary of camping, stalling, jackpot, golf cart and ticket prices.Β

Make the Right Decision for Your Family

Take time to:

  • Review finances
  • Consider time away from home/work
  • Plan what works best for your situation

There’s no one β€œright way”—just what’s right for you.

Final Thought

Nationals is an incredible opportunityβ€”but it’s also a commitment.

Go in prepared, ask questions, and lean on the rodeo community for support.

If you need help, reach outβ€”we’re here to guide you.

sign up for nationals

Congratulations, you’ve made the decision to go to Nationals in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The first thing to do is visit the rodeo office and pick up your contestant packet.

The following steps must be completed before you leave the finals on Sunday:Β Β

Step 1 – Online Entry, Jackpot, Video Fee – EQuest Event

  • All qualifiers will be marked as eligible in the membership system once confirmed. We ask that the Top 8 in each event notify the Provincial Secretary ASAP if you are going, or if you would go if rolled up. Visit the rodeo office in person or send a text to 780-305-9640.Β
  • Sign in to EQuest Event and re-link your NHSRA account. (You will need to know your membership login as well as your EQuest login.) See this video for instructions.Β
  • Select 2026 National Junior High Finals Rodeo and enter your event(s).Β Β
  • Optional Jackpot $100 USD may be added (except shooting). This is a side pot of your rodeo run. If you place in either round or the average, you will receive a payout.
  • Mandatory Video Fee $25 USD will be added to your cart (except shooters)
  • Complete your transaction. Payment accepted by Credit Card or ACH only.Β
  • Take a screenshot of your receipt to show the provincial secretary.

Step 2 – Camping and Stalls

Camping and Stalls for the NJHFR are booked and paid online through Open Stalls.Β

  • You will receive an email receipt. Your reservation will also be available on your profile in Open Stalls. You will need to show your receipt to the provincial secretary.

Step 3 – Notarized Minors Release, Insurance, Felt Back #

  • Complete the Notarized Minors Release Form, then bring it to the provincial secretary for processing.
    • Both parent signatures are required and must be done in the presence of a Commissioner of Oaths. (A Commissioner will be present on Sunday at the finals.)
    • If one parent is not present at the finals, and you intend to go to Nationals if you qualify, you can get the forms signed with a commissioner ahead of time and bring it with you to the finals.
    • Contestants will not be allowed to enter unless both signatures are on the form.
  • You will need to pay for remaining feesβ€”Insurance and Felt Back # ($20 USD)
  • Payment accepted by cash, cheque or etransfer.

  • Jacket Price (USD) – $315 plus customizations:Β
  • Embroidered Name: $16
  • Event Chevrons: $24 each
  • Most years jackets are delivered at Nationals, but this is not guaranteed as the per order deadline is May 11th.Β Β
